Book Reading #46 - Why We Make Mistakes

Chapter 6: We’re in the Wrong Frame of Mind

Summary:
Just as the title of the chapter suggests, this chapter is about how our frame of mind is often the cause of a lot of mistakes. The author elaborates with several examples and some notes such as our opinions changing based on whether we view a situation in terms of losses or in terms of gains.

Discussion:
This chapter contained a lot of hilarious examples. The first one given about the guy charging into a house with a sword because he mistook a porn movie for a woman screaming for help was entertaining.

Chapter 7: We Skim

Summary:
This chapter is about how the more experienced we are at something, the more we tend to skim. As a result of skimming we lose accuracy and are prone to making more mistakes. Many examples of this are given throughout the chapter.

Discussion:
This was a good read. I found myself wondering how much information I have missed because of skimming.
