Ethnography Results: Week 4

On one of the many trips that I have made in elevators as of late, a girl was rushing to try to make it to the elevator in time. She made it just as the doors were closing and was too scared to put her arm in the way so the door would open. I therefore did it for her and when she got in she thanked me and we talked a little about the elevator. She said she was scared she would get stuck cause you never know what can happen. I thought surely this was just the result of some old ghost stories as no one could "really" get stuck in an elevator. After some searching on the internet I found out that I was completely wrong. There really was a case of a doctor being decapitated in an elevator. As it turns out there are two safeguards to prevent doors closing on someone and the chances of either one failing are incredibly low. In this case both failed and the doctor was caught in the doors and then decapitated by the elevator. Needless to say, I wont be sticking my arm in the elevator any more.
