Reference Information:
Title: Rolling and Shooting: Two Augmented Reality Games
Authors: Ohan Oda, Steven Feiner
Venue: CHI 2010

Summary:
In this paper the authors discuss two games that make use of augmented reality. The first game involves navigating a virtual ball through a virtual maze by holding a solid object. As you move the object the virtual ball moves in the location it would as if pulled by gravity. The second game is a multiplayer first person shooter in which the players shoot virtual balls at virtual dominoes to knock them over.

Discussion:
While I believe augmented reality games are very interesting, I don't think that they will be able to replace console or computer games. I believe gamers like using controllers or keyboards to interact and would not like all of their games involving so much movement. Perhaps gamers are just too lazy but I don't think these types of games will ever be mainstream.
