Reference Information:
Title: LiquidText: Active Reading through Multitouch Document Manipulation
Authors: Craig Tashman
Venue: CHI 2010

Summary:
The author discusses how active reading involves input from the user in many ways. Unlike paper, computer screens are not as interactive as reading sometimes demands them to be. Therefore, the author describes LiquidText, a system that utilizes multitouch for document manipulation. Using LiquidText, a user could highlight or write notes while reading on a computer. This is a more intuitive way of interacting with documents than we currently can while using a computer.

Discussion:
I think that this could be an incredibly useful application. Several activities that use computers could be improved if they more realistically represented their real life counter parts. In this case, making a computer screen more like paper (and going beyond what we can do with paper) can greatly improve our interaction with word documents.
