Reference Information:
Title: Critical Point, A Composition for Cello and Computer
Authors: Roger Dannenberg, Tomas Laurenzo
Venue: CHI 2010

Summary:
In this paper, the authors describe the system Critical Point, which creates visualizations based on music it receives from a cello. This system gives the audience a visual component to go along with the audible one gained from cello concerts. The visuals displayed are dependent on the musician and as a result, the musician can tailor the visuals to the specific audience based on their reactions. By adding this visual component, the authors hope to obtain a more entertaining form of cello concerts.

Discussion:
This is a very interesting system that reminds me a lot of Dance.Draw. I think that adding visuals to the music is a great idea and I wish I could attend one of these performances in person. The only downside to this system is that it could discourage those who want to listen to music without the visuals, although I suppose they could just close their eyes at the concert.
